The Federal Election Commission filed this suit against the Christian Coalition, accusing the group of committing numerous violations of elections law in recent years. The coalition, founded by Pat Roberston, was accused of improperly assisting the campaigns of several Republican candidates including former President George Bush and House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Coalition chairman Ralph Reed called the suit "totally baseless."
